With your car hire drive to the nearby Jardins do Palheiro. These pretty gardens are laid out in a typically British colonial style but contain examples of tropical plants from, not only Portugal, but around the world. Drive to the north coast of Madeira where you can take a boat trip to the small island of Porto Santo and visit one of the homes of Christopher Columbus.

Excellent! Definitely I recommend it. They provided us the car without a credit card (while many other places asked for it) and only asking for 300€ deposit that as soon as you give the car in the same conditions they have given to u, they transfer it. The car was in perfect conditions and cleaned. It allowed us to go through all the high hills without any problem. Very fast pick-up Thank you! And a special thanks to Ruben, which was very very kind and helpful.

Alfonso was very friendly and quick for checking out the car. pickup by the airport had signage which other rental spots don't have. I appreciated their trust and concern for tourists. Madeira roads are epic and sort of dangerous so a good car for the island needs to be well maintained, small and handle the tight parking garages.

This was our first time renting a car abroad, and we are considered ‘young drivers’. We were going in circles with who to book with as all the reviews for car rental in Madeira are very poor, and those that aren’t are extremely expensive. Booked through Indigo Cars which meant we could hire with a debit rather than credit card, and was pleasantly surprised by the ease and friendliness of the service for a great price. Easy pickup directly from airport, and free of charge change to slightly later drop off after realising bag check in times. No scamming for extra purchases or invisible damage, a surprisingly honest car rental company. I would recommend to anyone looking to hire a car in Madeira.
