Your way to SIXT

The SIXT branch is located in the De Ruijterkade 44B, 1012 AA Amsterdam. In the IJ hall on the far eastern side.

Walking directions from the central station

Follow the signs IJ-side when leaving the train. Take the IJ passage to walk towards the IJ-side of the station. At the end of the IJ passage, turn right and walk towards the east side of the station. The SIXT branch is located next to the tram stop for tram 26.

By car

Keep left at the Watergraafsmeer junction and follow the signs A10 noord / E35 direction Zaanstad / Purmerend / Ring Amsterdam noord / Centrum / s114 through s118. Merge onto A10 / E35. Take the exit Zeeburg to s114 in the direction of Centrum. Turn left onto IJburglaan / s114 continues on s114. At the second traffic light you will find a sign from SIXT, follow Parking Oosterdok. Enter the Piet Heintunnel, then turn right to the Panamalaan / Piet Heinkade s100. Continue on the Piet Heinkade s100, after about 1.2 km turn right on the Oosterdokskade and follow Parking Oosterdok.

Please return the SIXT vehicle to Oosterdok Parking (Level -2), Oosterdokskade 150, 1011 DK Amsterdam. To return the vehicle go to level -2 and follow the signs for SIXT in the parking.

I’ve never had issues with Sixt before, but lately, my frustrations have been directed toward the booking system. If this continues, I’ll have to give a 3-star and consider switching to another company after 3 years of only using Sixt for car rental and car sharing. This time, I specifically booked the BMW Series 1 at the Central Station location because it offered winter tires at an affordable price. However, upon arrival, I discovered that the system doesn’t accurately reflect the availability of cars with winter tires. As a result, I had to pay significantly more for an upgrade (that I didn’t want to but was the only option with winter tyres) to get what I needed (€600 -> €870). Additionally, the process at Central Station is inconvenient because you have to walk in the rain to reach the garage. I’ll avoid this location and choose Schiphol instead, as it’s much more convenient. That said, the staff are always friendly and happy to help, which I truly appreciate.

To explain my self i will need a book!!! The pickup was super dubber splendid!! Sixt Central Station is almost my second home!! Royal treatment from brother Manuel Souares is a whole team by himself, he is the Sixt Ambassador of the Branch at Central Station... My salutes..🤗

The cars are park quite far from office. But they provide a free shuttle car to collect the car. If you return the car after office hours, you need to take walk about 15-20 min to the centraal station
